"Kolonia Born and Bred"
Karolina has been attending Kolonia since before she could walk. She enjoys hiking the bush and helping kids learn about Polish culture and history.
So far she has had two years worth of experience as leader and loves it. Her favourite activity is Capture The Flag and she loves eating homemade gołompki, always served on the first night.
When she is not at camp, she is studying global politics and creative writing at university.
SENIOR CAMP LEADER
"An Oldie but a Goodie"
Kasia has been to 15 Kolonias as a camper and 16 as a leader! She has watched so many campers grow up and out of Kolonia; it’s the best part of her job.
Her favourite activities are raft building and swimming because she loves the outdoors. She is always looking forward to the next meal as everybody knows that nothing beats Pani Ania’s cooking!
Between camps, Kasia is a high school teacher and always finds time to travel to different parts of the world.
"The Water Detective"
Zuzia is a long-time camper turned leader who has experience in water safety and rescue, as well as being Kolonia’s music and dance specialist.
Her favourite activity is mystery night, where teams work together to solve scary night puzzles.
When Zuzia is not at camp, she is a Laser Corp General during the week, a synchronised swim teacher on the weekend, and of course, a dance teacher for life.
Pani Ania Gontaszewski first started kolonia in 1988. She has had forty years’ worth of experience working with children in both Poland and Australia.
Upon her arrival in Australia, Pani Ania came to the realisation that she didn’t have any camps on which to send her own children and so she started one on her own.
She continues to make kolonia’s so that children can gather in groups to maintain their Polish culture and traditions.
